Made in Whitby
Made in Whitby brings together creative business owners who source & make locally distinctive products in Whitby.
We’re creating a resilient community of like-minded producers and makers to celebrate and promote Whitby’s sense of place.
Made in Whitby organises the successful Made in Whitby Festivals, which take place in July, December and Easter, by the iconic Whitby Abbey.
The Made in Whitby Festivals showcase local businesses, who’re invited to participate, together with entertainers and other supporters. Made in Whitby also provides a focal point with food, drink and entertainment for the Fish & Ships Festival.
Made in Whitby was founded by Archie who created Whitby Sea Salt, with co-founders Barry from 150-year old Fortunes Kippers and Richard from Whitby Brewery.
We want to showcase the skills, ingenuity, entrepreneurship and creative spirit that alongside Whitby’s successful local tourism industry. We hope that Made in Whitby can help to create more jobs for local people, and to support other small businesses.
Over the coming months, Made in Whitby will become a membership organisation, inviting others to benefit from the collaborative power of this practical marketing consortium.
Known for being a tourist hotspot, welcoming over 1 million visitors each year, Whitby has a unique history unlike any other. With a vast fishing heritage and generational maritime knowledge, its hidden network of entrepreneurs and creativity is sometimes overlooked. Made In Whitby wants to bring this back to life through a collaborative and supportive approach, creating a strong platform for new and existing Whitby businesses to flourish.
